The redesigning continues!
This week I have worked on IGN’s application.
The IGN app is stuck in the Android 2.2 Froyo days, and is in sore need of a complete overhaul. My goal with the redesign was to take the recent design direction the IGN website has been heading in, and make it work for Android.
Have a look and leave your feedback. Also, if you like my work, please share it! More exposure to great Android design is always a good thing.
The current app was built in a time before Android had a standard action bar. The first thing to take of would be to build a native application with a standard action bar and navigation drawer. Throw in some large images and cards, and we have ourselves a modern, beautiful Android application.
Modern Android devices have huge, incredibly high resolution displays. Let’s take advantage of that to present readers with crisp, full bleed images and easy to read text.
Finally, we can’t have a shiny-new Android app without proper tablet support. Same rules apply. Large, high resolution images, clear text, and a layout that takes advantage of the larger screen size.
So that’s the IGN app. What do you think? You can leave your feedback on this post, or hit me up on the usual social networks.
Until next week, internet!
